Journeyman Distillery Wedding | Three Oaks, Michigan | 10.04.2025

Some wedding days stay with you long after you pack up your gear and head home — the kind that feel less like work and more like being invited into something really special. Katie and Angela’s wedding day at Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan was exactly that. From the quiet, emotional moments in the morning to the all-out celebration at night, their day felt intentional, joyful, and full of so much love.

A Thoughtful Start to the Day

The day began in two separate Airbnbs — Katie getting ready with her friends and family, and Angela with hers. There was such a sweet calm to the morning, mixed with excitement and that familiar buzz of pre-wedding anticipation. Both of them exchanged the most thoughtful gifts, and you could feel how much care went into every detail of the day.

Katie was definitely our crier of the day (and we loved her for it). She tried so hard to hold back tears while opening Angela’s gift. Angela gifted Katie a beautiful watch among some other thoughtful things, but what truly stopped us in our tracks was the pocket square she made for Katie’s suit — crafted from Angela’s own wedding dress. We had never seen anything like it before. Not only was it incredibly meaningful, but it also quietly built so much anticipation for the first look. It made Katie (and all of us) wonder and ponder how stunning her bride's dress was going to be.

Angela received beautiful jewelry that paired perfectly with her ring, and sparkly dress and soon the getting-ready energy picked up — glam happening everywhere, laughter filling the rooms, and that quiet build-up before everything becomes very real.

First Looks, Family & So Much Love

Angela wore the most sparkly dress we have ever seen — absolutely breathtaking. Every movement caught the light in the most magical way, and paired perfectly with Katie’s custom suit and that meaningful pocket square detail.

Angela shared a first look with her dad and her brother, and it was one of the sweetest moments of the day. Her brother literally walked in a full circle around her, just taking it all in, hyping her up, and clearly so proud. You could feel how loved she was in that moment.

Katie's sister then gave her a memento that honestly got all of us — a “something old, something new, something blue” piece made with the help of Katie’s niece. It featured a photo of her grandparents, and it was such a beautiful, full-circle moment. They also incorporated their niece and nephew into the ceremony, which made the day feel even more personal and family-centered.

We love a good detail moment. Their color palette leaned into beautiful fall tones — burnt oranges, maroons, greens, and blues — which paired perfectly with the warm browns and rustic-industrial textures of Journeyman Distillery, one of our favorite Michigan wedding venues.

The Ceremony at Journeyman Distillery

The ceremony took place outside near the old silo at Journeyman Distillery — such a unique space with so much character and history. Before walking down the aisle, Katie and Angela finally shared their first look together, and it was pure joy. The excitement, the compliments on each other’s outfits, the “we’re really doing this” energy — it was everything you hope for in a first look.

Their vows were heartfelt, emotional, and deeply personal, shared in front of all their friends and family. There were tears, lots of laughter, and even a Taylor Swift reference from Katie (which I obviously appreciated as a fellow Swiftie). They sealed it all with a kiss, were officially pronounced wifeys for lifey, and as they walked back down the aisle together, everyone started blowing bubbles and cheering!

Portraits, Party Energy & A Dance Floor No One Could Ignore

Katie and Angela were an absolute dream to work with during portraits. They were down for everything — moving, dancing, spinning, laughing, and trusting us fully to capture their day in a way that felt natural and true to them. And we love anytime we get the opportunity to work with McKenah with @m.childressphoto. It's the ultimate creative dream team.

Their reception was unlike anything we’ve seen. Journeyman Distillery actually has two venue spaces, and it became very clear which one had the party. Guests from the other side kept drifting over to Katie and Angela’s space because their DJ's energy was unreal. The music, the lights, the packed dance floor — it was so lit that people couldn’t help but join in.

Add in fun signature cocktails, light-up glasses, and foam light wands, and the celebration never slowed down. And don’t even get us started on cocktail hour — the chicken and waffles were absolutely to die for. ( Pair that with a dessert spread featuring every dessert and flavor you could imagine, and it was perfection, especially for a very pregnant videographer :)

The night also included emotional first dances — between Katie and Angela, as well as with both of their parents — followed by hours of dancing and celebration. Their bridal party kept the vibes high all night, making sure everything stayed flawless, fun, and full of laughter.

Katie & Angela

One of our favorite parts about working with couples like Katie and Angela is that when the day ends, it never really feels like goodbye. It feels like we gained two new friends. They are genuine, kind, joyful people — the kind who cheer loudly for others and show up fully for the people they love.

Katie and Angela, thank you for trusting us with something so meaningful. Capturing your wedding day at Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan was truly an honor, and it’s something we will never take for granted.

Here’s to your marriage, your life together, and all the dance floors you’ll continue to light up. 🤍

With so much love,

The Whites
