Backyard Vineyard Romance: Katelyn & Nathan’s Sycamore at Mallow Run Wedding | 8.23.2025
Some wedding days just hit different in the best way — the ones that feel like home, like family, like joy you can physically feel when you walk into the room. Katelyn and Nathan’s wedding day at The Sycamore at Mallow Run in Bargersville, Indiana was exactly that kind of day. Soft, emotional, faith-filled, and full of those tiny unplanned moments that end up meaning everything.
Getting Ready | Mimosas, Laughter & Vows
The morning started slow and sweet — mimosas, handwritten vows, makeup brushes tapping, and girls giggling while music played in the background. Meanwhile, Nathan was getting their son, Jordan, ready, who is just the cutest little guy you ever saw. He was running around in his little outfit with the biggest eyes, soaking up all the excitement.
And then there was Katelyn’s dress —it had this gorgeous sheer pearl-covered shawl that buttoned down the back, something we’ve never seen before, and it looked incredible on her. The way it paired with her tattoos was a whole vibe. She looked unreal.
She shared a first look with her bridesmaids that was full of tears and cheering, and then another emotional first look with her parents that left none of us dry-eyed.
The Funniest First Look Fake-Out
Everyone thought Nathan was preparing for his first look… but instead, his best man came twirling down the vineyard in a white dress. Full spin moves. Serious commitment. Nathan turned around expecting Katelyn and immediately busted out laughing — honestly one of the best prank first looks we’ve ever seen.
Jordan’s reaction made it even better — he completely froze, like “that’s definitely not my mom,” and just stared with the funniest confused face. Priceless.
Private Vows & a Butterfly Moment
Once the laughter settled, Katelyn and Nathan finally had their real first look, holding each other close between the vineyard rows. They stepped aside to exchange private vows, but Katelyn got so emotional she couldn’t get hers out — so Nathan read them for her, which somehow made the moment even more intimate and heartfelt.
In the middle of those quiet moments, a butterfly gently landed on Jordan’s shoulder and then fluttered away — the sweetest little moment that felt symbolic in a way no one could quite explain.
A Vineyard Ceremony Under the Clouds
The ceremony took place in front of the vineyard with soft rolling clouds overhead — the kind of sky that turns everything into a painting. Their wedding colors, creams, whites, greens, and tans, perfectly complemented the natural backdrop, tying everything together in the most timeless way.
The sweetest part of the ceremony was when Nathan walked down the aisle with Jordan, and as soon as Jordan saw Katelyn, he lit up, bouncing in Nathan’s arms and pointing at her with the biggest smile. You couldn’t script a moment like that — pure, genuine joy.
They incorporated their faith so beautifully — guests signed a custom Bible and highlighted favorite verses as a keepsake for their marriage, which felt so meaningful and intentional.
The Reception | Backyard Vineyard Vibes
The reception was held inside the vaulted hall at The Sycamore, warm and glowing with beautiful lighting. Katelyn and Nathan shared a private first dance before guests entered — just the two of them in the quiet — and there were definitely tears.
During the father-daughter dance, Katelyn and her dad paused halfway and pulled out gloves and a softball, tossing it back and forth — a tribute to her childhood and their relationship. Such a thoughtful touch and one we’ll remember forever.
One of our favorite parts of the night was the photo bench setup — a greenery wall with their last name, Sandusky, lit up behind them. Each table came up for a photo when released for dinner, which allowed Katelyn and Nathan to sit down and breathe for a moment — because wedding days are long and intense and go by so fast. It was such a smart way to create connection while also giving themselves a break. Honestly, we’ll recommend this idea to future couples forever!
Outside, kids were playing football, guests gathered around the fire pit, cigars were shared, cornhole was being played, and people wandered and enjoyed the vineyard. It felt like a backyard family celebration with vineyard elegance — relaxed, joyful, and perfectly true to them.
A Faith-Rooted Love That Feels Like Home
Everything about this day reflected who they are — a couple grounded in faith, family, and genuine connection. Jordan was a huge part of their day, making every moment feel even more meaningful, like watching a family become officially complete.
Katelyn and Nathan, we adore you both. Thank you for trusting us to capture your story. We’re praying for a marriage full of peace, joy, and every blessing God has for your family.
With Love,
